I'm a professional editor with more than 9 years of experience working for diverse publications and projects. My goal is to amplify your voice and words through suggestions and alternative possibilities that will enhance your writing and make it more impactful. I believe in sensitive, constructive editing, not complete rewrites that you don't recognise as your own work.
TYPES OF EDITING
Ideal for a first draft. I'll include suggestions to make it more effective, improve the flow, develop the story or theme, point out gaps that need to be explained, and improve tone and intention. It will usually require some further rewriting by you, and will still need a copy edit and proofread.
A structurally sound piece of writing that you want to run by an editor to ensure readability, accuracy, consistency, grammar, semantics, style and fact checking. A text that has been copy edited will be refined and will usually need just a final proofread before it is ready for publication.
Only basic grammar, spelling, typographical and punctuation checks (including American/ British spelling consistency etc.) This is a great option when you want to get an edited piece of writing ready for final publication or submission.
BOOK A COMBO
You can also book two or more editing styles. The cost is the sum of each type of edit, but a Combo guarantees my availability within an agreed time frame. It will include two or more drafts (depending on the package) with revisions to be made by you.
For example, for a Developmental Edit + Copy Edit Combo, I'll first send you a Developmental Edit draft, which you'll revise based on my suggestions, and I'll then send you the Copy Edited version.
My pricing* takes into account three factors:
Type of editing: Prices are calculated based on the depth of the edit and the time required. Combos of two different types of edits are also possible.
Length of the piece: For the first 500 words (including pieces of less than 500 words), there is a fixed base rate for each type of editing. For longer pieces, the relevant per word rate is multiplied by the number of additional words.
Time sensitivity: There may be an additional rush fee for very short turnaround times. I will always inform you beforehand about my availability for a project and whether it will cost you extra.
